My husband and I did the Coba tour and also the Chitchen Itza tour with Eric from Ecab Explorer this August. I just wanted to say that both days were incredibly amazing.
Eric is a wonderful person. You can tell that he is very knowledgeable and that he loves Mexico and enjoys very much doing what he does.

On the Coba tour we were three people and for Chitchen Itza we were six. We thought this was great because it felt very cosy. The van was driven by Carlos so Eric could chat to us and answer all our questions without having to worry about the traffic.

It was also very thoughtful of Eric to have a fridge at the back of the van with plenty of cold water. On the air-conditioned van and with Carlos driving the journeys between places were very comfy and safe.

Both tours to the ruins were combined with other activities and places to visit. For example after visiting the Coba ruins, we went to a nearby cenote for a swim and then we headed to a Mayan village where we learn how to make proper corn tortillas and then we had lunch. After lunch we went to the jungle to observe Spider Monkeys. In one day we got to experience very different things and all great.

The day we went to Chitchen Itza was great to get there early and leave before all the coaches with masses of tourist arrive.

We definitely want to go back to Mexico and when we do we will be in touch with Eric. We would have loved to be able to do the other tours.

Thanks very much Eric!!

If you are looking for an excursion that is worth EVERY penny then look no further.

Eric is amazing. VERY friendly and flexible. We went to the ruins of Coba, then to a cenote, a mayan family home for lunch, then lastly a jungle walk to see Monkey's and other life that the jungle has to offer.

We were picked up on time (in fact, a little early) in a clean air conditioned vehicle. The entire tour group consisted of 6 people. My wife and I, a mother/son from London, and another couple from Ohio. It was refreshing to not just be a number on a tour group, but actually be able to ask questions and interact with the tour guide. Eric has a driver so he can talk about the area and give information about the tour and to not have to pay attention to the road.

Coba was amazing. We had our own guide for just the 6 of us and we actually stayed longer than anticipated. Eric had NO problem with this and just rolled with it. The Cenote stop was amazingly fun. Fresh cool water with platforms to jump off of if you dare. I jumped off the high one (just a little frightening).

Lunch was phenomenal. VERY good food, very interesting. We made our own tortillas by hand which were then placed on the fire and cooked in the palapa. The drink was water that had dried hibiscus flower infused into it for flavoring (AMAZING). What a wonderful experience.

Last was the jungle walk. The monkeys were fun to watch and the wildlife was great to see. Overall a nice relaxing walk through the jungle

I cannot begin to describe what a good idea this tour was! From the day I emailed Eric, to the end of the day itself, we found Ecab Explorer to be the best part of our vacaction. This tour was an investment in our kids and completely worth every penny.

Eric and his tour are unlike anything you can get at a resort. Instead of travelling with a tour bus of people, we had a private, comfortable van with just our family, our tour guide Eric and our driver Carlos. Eric arranged the tour of Chichen Itza so that we got there before the hoardes of tour buses and heat did.

We got a private tour guide at the ruins, Reuben, who was so informative and amazing. This was surely the most interesting history lesson our teenagers have ever received. After our tour of Chichen Itza, Eric took us to one of many cenote's for a cool swim. It was beautiful, and private! We also had a wonderful lunch and saw a few other local sites before heading back to our resort. Throughout the day, Eric displayed such knowledge of the area. We learned something new about everything we saw.

We definitely recommend Ecab Explorers and will use them again when we come back (we will see Tulum next time I think).

Thanks Eric, you made our trip!

We booked 2 tours with Eric prior to leaving Australia.
We did a tour to Chichen Itza and the the swimming with the Whale Sharks tour.

The Chichen Itza tour was amazing. The drive from Puerto Morelos to Chichen is about 2 hours and for the majority of the drive Eric informed us about the history of the areas we were travelling through. This is not something that I experienced on my first trip to Chichen many years ago.
We arrived at about 9.30 and there were no buses in the car park and very few people walking around the site. Eric introduced us to our guide and we then spent 2 hours wandering the ruins and being told the history of the site. Our guide was excellent and very enthusiastic to teach us about the Mayan history. As we left the ruins there were thousands of people entering and the car park was full of buses just as the sun was getting to the top of its apex. we were grateful to have seen the ruins during a much quieter and cooler part of the day.

After that we went for lunch close by which was very good then we went to a cenote and had a refreshing swim. Then we headed to Uayma and Valladolid which were both very interesting. It was just my wife and I on the tour and we felt very relaxed and never felt rushed.

The tour to swim with the whale sharks was unbelievable. We were picked up early and driven to Puerto Juarez where we met up with the boat that had already picked up some passengers from Isla Mujeres. we travelled about 1 1/2 hours from the dock until we reached the area where they believed the whale sharks to be. After about 15-20 minutes one of the captains of another boat spotted a whale shark so we moved to where they were. The boats all worked together and everything went like a well oiled machine with 2 people from the first boat getting in the water then that boat goes to the back of the queue and the next boat takes its place. My wife and I had 3 turns in the water and on 2 of those occasions we had amazing views and experiences with a whale shark. Once everyone on the boat had had 3 turns in the water we headed to a reef for snorkel and some ceviche on board the boat. It is a long day but very much a once in a lifetime experience which if given the chance we would definitely do again.

We highly recommend Ecab tours for value and for providing amazing tours that have a very real point of difference from the big tour companies who all provide exactly the same service.

We also had a wonderful time on Eric's Chichen Itza tour. It was just me, my wife and our 16 year old daughter.

Eric and his driver were on time, flexible to our needs, courteous and a wealth of knowledge.

We are well traveled and have always booked with local independent tour operators when visiting various ports of call on cruises - never had a bad experience so this trip, when staying at an All Inclusive, we decided to book with Eric, another local guide.
